SmartNet Europe is a 24/7 GNSS Network RTK and DGNSS correction service that has been adopted in many European countries.
Leica SmartNet uses the latest network software and hardware innovations from Leica Geosystems. Reference stations infrastructures are based on real time raw data streams from Leica owned sites, customers, government organizations, distributors and other partners. With easy access to precise correction data, Network RTK users experience the best availability, reliability and traceability using internationally recognized standards, together with flexible and affordable subscription options that meet the needs of the local market.
SmartNet is open to all: anyone with a network ready GPS receiver can join it. All corrections are available through the internet via NTRIP and TCP/IP protocol. So whether you own a Leica Geosystems rover or another make of GPS receiver you are able to gain access to the service via mobile phone technology.
Assuming the standard GPS RTK protocols and best practice methods are employed for maximum precision i.e. good satellite coverage, good geometry of precision, low multipath enviroments etc, SmartNet typically achieves for double frequency receivers an RTK RMR accuracy of 1-2 cm plan and 2-3 cm height, in areas of SmartNet network correction coverage.
RTK services are delivered by GPRS. GPRS is a mobile data service on the various 2G and 3G cellular communications networks that enable phones to send and receive data. With GPRS you only pay for the amount of data that you download rather than the duration of the connection.
GPRS coverage maps are normally available from provider's web site.
