Chinese satellite navigation system, BeiDou, now available within Leica Geosystems reference station software

(Heerbrugg/Switzerland, 30 March 2015) - The BeiDou network RTK is now available in the recent release of the Leica Spider Software Suite v5.2. With the addition of the Chinese satellite navigation system – from receiver configuration to raw data archiving and real-time correction services – all major operational satellite navigation systems around the world can be used with the Leica Spider Software Suite.

BeiDou satellite system support boosts rover user experience
In the Asian-Pacific region, rover users of GNSS Spider CORS networks can now benefit from more than 10 additional satellites available in network RTK corrections. These will improve availability of centimetre accurate positions, especially in difficult environments such as urban canyons. The new satellite system also comes with support for all the latest standardised data formats, such as RINEX v3 and RTCM 3.2 (MSM), in Spider, which installations worldwide can benefit. 

No. 1 priority is quality assurance
Since operating a CORS network requires high reliability, the Spider suite includes an application for quality control as well. The new release of Leica SpiderQC v5.2 now monitors and analyses GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou data flow throughout the entire data chain – from the reference station antenna and receiver to the rover end-user in the field and can be applied to such applications as analysis of multipath, data completeness, residuals or ionospheric, or tropospheric activity, thereby providing operators with the right tools to manage the network. 

CORS status securely accessible via web front-end
The Spider Business Center web front-end adds a new map view, displaying the current status of all reference stations in the network. As can be expected from the most secure RTK user management system on the market, access to this information can be managed at user level, making sure only those authorised can access sensitive information. 

With its highly customisable platform, the Spider suite can be tailored to provide high-speed, real-time management for such applications as GNSS surveying, machine control, GIS, and seismic and structural monitoring.  Leica GNSS Spider is the core software component of this suite used to centrally manage GNSS networks and reference stations. Also integrated are the Leica Spider Business Center for managing rover user access securely, the Leica SpiderWeb for value-added web services, and the Leica SpiderQC for quality control and data analysis. 

All GNSS reference station software products are available immediately and can be obtained from myWorld found on the Leica Geosystems website, or from local Leica Geosystems sales representatives or dealers.
